The Artist
In 2011, a grainy YouTube video went viral, showing an Amsterdam artist slicing ordinary packing tape into glowing images, set against a gritty hip-hop beat. Then, under the cover of night, he climbed street lamps throughout the city, turning them into luminous showcases for his creations.
Within days, Max Zorn’s quiet nighttime experiments were suddenly in demand by international galleries, celebrities, and art collectors from New York to Miami to Hong Kong. CNN features followed, then TEDx, CBS… NBC… they all went after the story. But while their portrayed a rebellious street-art sensation, the truth was way simpler, more personal… each luminous piece had started as a message intended for just one person.
The Exhibition
Crafted from layers of glowing tape, Max Zorn’s artworks unfold like cinematic daydreams—where longing glances, and city lights flicker quietly like secret confessions
At the exhibition, you’ll encounter around 20 illuminated artworks—from striking large-scale pieces featured in international museums, to intimate, never-before-seen creations framed charmingly in champagne crates and vintage cigar boxes—all glowing softly in Max Zorn’s signature style.
The Organizers
The event is hosted by Gallery@. Gallery@ is the art gallery arm of AGI Denim, a leader in Pakistan’s denim industry. The gallery’s mission is to champion artists and celebrate art.
The family-owned company is providing the gallery and logistics support, including materials and marketing.
“It is our honor to participate in spotlighting an artist of Max Zorn’s caliber for our denim world,” says Henry Wong, who serves as gallery director for gallery@ AGI Denim and as VP of Product Development & Marketing for AGI Denim. “We have timed the exhibition to coincide with a period when all of the denim world gets together in Amsterdam to see the latest technology and trends the industry has to offer and immerse in the culture the city has to offer. We couldn’t think of a better artist to help us celebrate than Max, who is so beloved here.”
